Barbara Parker

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

Hello! I am a License Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado. I am also a Veteran of the United States Air Force. I spent the past four years working in an inpatient program for men coming out of prison and into community corrections. It has taught me about the will and drive to overcome addictions and family history/traumas. The men I worked with inspired me everyday.
My approach to counseling is person centered. You are in charge of what you want to work on. I am an expert of the process of change, but not on you. When we challenge our thoughts, our behavior and actions will change. This is usually the way I would challenge someone who would like to change whatever is causing them discomfort.
I don’t give advice as that is not what therapists do. I work with you and help guide you to a better understanding of your issue and then we work together to find a plan to fix the discomfort you were experiencing.
I look forward to having the chance to work with you!

About

Barbara Parker is a licensed professional counselor based in Colorado with nine years of clinical experience. She is also a Veteran of the United States Air Force and spent the past four years working in an inpatient program supporting men transitioning from prison into community corrections.

That work strengthened her appreciation for the will and drive people bring to overcome addictions and heal from family histories and trauma. The men she worked with served as a daily source of inspiration for her commitment to helping others change their lives.

Her counseling style is rooted in a person-centered approach – clients direct what they want to address while she applies expertise in the process of change. She emphasizes that by examining and challenging unhelpful thoughts, related behaviors and actions tend to shift, and she often uses that pathway when supporting someone who wants to reduce discomfort or create different outcomes.

Barbara does not provide advice in the traditional sense. Instead she collaborates with clients to build understanding of the issue and then develops a shared plan to reduce the discomfort they are experiencing. She holds a Colorado professional counselor license (CO LPC 15835), which qualifies her to provide clinical counseling in the state, and she looks forward to the opportunity to work with new clients.

Is Online Therapy the Right Choice for Your Mental Health Journey?

For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or navigating life transitions – online therapy has been found to be as effective as traditional in-person care. It can be a practical option for people seeking support for these issues.

One major advantage of remote sessions is flexibility. Individuals can connect with a therapist in the format that best fits their needs and schedule – whether through video calls, phone conversations, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability often makes it easier to maintain regular sessions and integrate therapy into daily life.

All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and if someone feels a different fit would work better, it is possible to switch therapists at any time. Online therapy can therefore offer both professional care and the convenience needed to stay engaged in the therapeutic process.
