Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington State with my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling and Addiction. My focus has been on treating Co-occurring addiction and trauma disorders for the last six years. I work with Veterans and civilians dealing with PTSD. I am an evidence based focused therapist and also use Motivational Interviewing to aid in processing barriers to change.
I believe it’s important to meet my patients where they are at and to help them reach their goals through compassion, education and providing a non-judgmental environment to explore their past and present experiences. I welcome and encourage family engagement to the extent my patient is comfortable. Therapy is a privilege for me to provide to any patient willing to allow me to join part of their journey. I will provide a safe environment for you to explore, learn and grow in the direction you choose. I am not here to to tell anyone how to live only to reflect and explore the impact your thoughts and emotions have on your life. To be transparent with my patients I do share that when in a video session you will notice that I wear dark glasses to help me with a chronic light sensitivity issues. BetterHelp doesn’t allow me to wear these in my photo but it is something I do wear at all time. If you have questions please don’t hesitate to ask.
I currently live in Japan. Due to the time difference I will have limited options that work for my Washington State clients.

Laura Philpott is a licensed mental health counselor in Washington State who holds a master’s degree in mental health counseling and addiction. She brings nine years of clinical experience and has spent the last six years concentrating on co-occurring addiction and trauma disorders.
She works with veterans and civilians facing PTSD and uses evidence-based therapies alongside Motivational Interviewing to help process barriers to change and support recovery.
Laura meets people where they are, helping them pursue their goals through compassion, education, and a non-judgmental environment for examining past and present experiences. She welcomes family involvement when the client is comfortable with that level of engagement.
For Laura, providing therapy is a privilege; she aims to create a safe space where clients can explore, learn, and grow in the direction they choose. Her approach is not to tell anyone how to live but to reflect on the ways thoughts and emotions influence daily life.
Clients may notice that Laura wears dark glasses during video sessions to manage a chronic sensitivity to light – she cannot display them in her profile photo but does wear them during virtual meetings. Laura currently lives in Japan, and because of the time difference she has limited scheduling options for clients based in Washington.
Many people ask whether remote therapy can make a meaningful difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be similarly effective to traditional in-person sessions.
One major advantage is flexibility. Clients can connect in the way that suits them best – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which often makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule.
Each therapist is a licensed professional, and if a different fit is desired clients can switch therapists at any time.
