Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I have over 10 years of experience working with people who have experienced homelessness as well as serious mental health and addiction. I received my Master’s degree and went on to become a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). Besides counseling, I have done a great deal of social work for those who are low-income, facing many challenges including housing stability. My approach is to work at each person’s own pace and learn as much as I can about who you are to better help provide support. This leads to providing what treatment approach will work best for the individual (or couple). I also highly draw upon Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for the work I do with clients.
My goal is to provide you with a therapeutic experience that allows you to feel relief and shifts sooner rather than later and to give you a sense of confidence moving forward in both yourself and the therapeutic process. As my client, you can expect to be treated with respect, care, compassion, and have someone walking beside you who will support you in becoming the best version of yourself that feels right, true, and honest to you.
I look forward to meeting you, getting to know more about what is going on in your life right now, and beginning to help you feel better through our time together.
For your reference, my online office hours are Monday-Saturday. Sunday is my personal day and I am not available for messaging or sessions that day. Any messages I receive after Saturday evening will be responded to on Monday. For the foreseeable future, for any new clients I begin working with, I am available via messaging and live chat sessions only (not phone or video).

Sara Lopes is a Massachusetts-based mental health counselor with a master’s degree and eight years of clinical experience. She has worked directly with people who have experienced homelessness and with individuals coping with serious mental health challenges and addiction, and she has provided extensive social work support for low-income clients facing obstacles such as housing stability.
Her practice centers on meeting people where they are and moving at a pace that feels manageable. She learns about each person’s background and goals to determine which therapeutic approach is likely to be most effective for an individual or a couple. In her sessions she frequently draws on Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Sara aims to help clients notice relief and meaningful shifts sooner rather than later while building confidence in both themselves and the therapeutic process. Clients can expect to be treated with respect, care, and compassion, and to have a therapist who supports them as they work toward becoming the version of themselves that feels right and honest.
Her online office hours run Monday through Saturday, and Sunday is her personal day when she is not available for messaging or sessions. Messages received after Saturday evening are answered on Monday. For the foreseeable future, new clients are being seen via messaging and live chat only – phone and video sessions are not being offered to new clients.
Many people wonder whether online therapy truly helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or major life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person care.
One major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the format that suits them best, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and to keep continuity of care.
Therapists providing online services are licensed professionals, and clients can switch therapists if they want a different fit. For many people, the convenience and comparable effectiveness of online therapy make it a practical choice for addressing everyday mental health needs and relationship challenges.
