Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
With 4+ years of direct therapy experience and 10+ years of experience in service in the community I have worked with a variety of individuals with trauma survivors, young adults, people in the LGBTQ community, people of color, and other varied social backgrounds.
As a yoga instructor and counselor, I am often asking my clients to acknowledge any uncomfortable feelings that come up in a the moment, so that they might gain a better understanding of them and begin to proceed past it. I ask them to stay mindful of any negative thoughts/emotions going on their head and if they can instead focus on their breath, remind themselves this moment is not permanent, and to maybe even smile through it

Matthew English brings more than 4 years of direct therapy experience and over 10 years of community service to his work in Illinois. He has supported trauma survivors, young adults, members of the LGBTQ community, people of color, and individuals from a range of social backgrounds.
As both a yoga instructor and a counselor, he encourages clients to notice uncomfortable feelings in the moment so they can better understand and move beyond them. He guides people to remain mindful of negative thoughts and emotions, to return attention to the breath, to remind themselves that the moment is not permanent, and at times to even soften into a smile as part of that process.
He is a gay, male therapist and identifies as a therapist of color. He holds an Illinois Licensed Clinical Social Worker license – IL LCSW 149022534.
Many people wonder whether connecting with a therapist online truly helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions.
One of the primary benefits is flexibility – clients can choose the format that fits their needs, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to incorporate therapy into a busy schedule.
Licensed professionals provide care through these remote options, and if someone decides they would prefer a different therapist, they can switch at any time to find a better fit.
