About

Wanting a better life for ourselves and for our families is something many of us think about. A better life will mean different things to each of us. It may mean a happier life, a less stressful life or one that has a better work/life balance. It may mean having the energy and enthusiasm to face the day, to not feel anxious in social situations or to overcome a fear that has affected you for years. If you have struggled with depression, anxiety, anger, or any other of the many negative emotions in life, then maybe you would like some help to deal with that.

It is not always easy to talk about your problems or to express your feelings. I understand this can be a difficult process and will support you through treatment, at a pace you are comfortable with. I offer a safe, confidential space for you to talk about yourself and the problems you are struggling with. Together we will work towards helping you manage your problems so you are better equipped to deal with life’s many challenges in the future.

I am licensed in the UK with 16 years of professional work experience. The two models of therapy I practice are Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Person-Centred Counselling. Some of the areas I have experience in helping clients with are stress and anxiety, coping with grief and loss, motivation, self esteem, and depression. I work with my clients to create an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. Taking the first step to seeking a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage. I am here to support you in that process.
I have worked in a variety of settings, including a Young Offenders Institution, Residential Care for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, Social Services working with young people who had been in care, CRUSE Bereavement Care and most recently the NHS.

I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) and I adhere to their Codes of Professional Conduct and Code of Ethics.

I am fully insured, receive regular supervision and attend regular training as part of my Continued Professional Development which ensures I maintain the highest standards of best practice.

For me, the best part about being a therapist is seeing the changes and the progress each person makes. Every day they are challenging themselves and learning and making connections they had previously been unaware of. The difference this can make to their lives is incredible and can help them take the necessary steps to bring about the better life they have wanted for so long.

About

Many people think about creating a better life for themselves and their families, and what that looks like varies from person to person. For some it means a happier, less stressful day-to-day existence or a healthier work-life balance. For others it means having the energy to face each morning, feeling less anxious in social situations, or overcoming a long-standing fear. Julie Baker works with people who have struggled with depression, anxiety, anger and other difficult emotions, offering support to help manage those challenges.

Julie understands that it can be hard to talk about problems or to put feelings into words. She supports clients through therapy at a pace that feels comfortable, providing a safe space where thoughts and feelings can be explored without judgement. Working together, she helps people develop skills and strategies to cope with life’s challenges so they feel better equipped in the future.

Julie is licensed in the United Kingdom and brings 16 years of professional experience. She practises Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Person-Centred Counselling and has experience helping with stress and anxiety, coping with grief and loss, motivation, self-esteem, and depression. Her approach focuses on creating an open, supportive environment in which clients can share and reflect.

Her background includes roles in a Young Offenders Institution, residential care for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties, Social Services supporting young people who had been in care, CRUSE Bereavement Care, and most recently the NHS. Julie is a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and a member of the British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP), and she adheres to their professional codes and ethics.

Julie is fully insured, receives regular supervision and takes part in ongoing training as part of her continued professional development to maintain high standards of practice. The most rewarding part of her work is witnessing the progress people make as they challenge themselves, learn new connections, and take steps toward the better life they have wanted.

Is Online Therapy the Right Fit for Your Needs?

Many people ask whether online therapy can genuinely help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes, evidence shows that online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person treatment. One major benefit is flexibility – clients can choose the mode of connection that suits them best, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life and to access support from different locations. Licensed professionals offer online therapy, and if someone decides they would prefer a different therapist at any time, it is possible to change providers. Overall, online therapy provides an accessible option for many people seeking support from experienced therapists.
