Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
My name is Steven Eveleigh, and I am a BACP registered counsellor. For many years, I worked for investment banks in London, leading a fast paced, unsatisfying lifestyle. I moved to Bournemouth, Dorset to a similar role, but eventually, after reaching a point where I felt unhappy, I started training to become a counsellor.
Immediately it felt right, more natural than anything else I’ve done. Working with clients is something that I truly relish. Since qualifying as a BACP registered counsellor my passion has been expanding my knowledge about myself and others in order to give the best possible form of counselling for people with all kinds of issues, from workplace problems to bereavement to LGB issues.
If you are struggling in some way, I give you a peaceful, down-to-earth, no judgmental space to speak freely about your issues and receive the help you need. I understand that opening up about sensitive subjects can be hard but reaching out is the first step towards reaching a better place. My expertise covers areas such as depression, bereavement, low self-esteem, and LGB issues, among others.
As a person-centred counsellor, I allow sessions to be directed by you. Together we will create the right conditions for exploring what you feel and validate your experience. I believe everyone has an innate potential for growth and empowerment, and my role is to help you along that path, always giving you unconditional positive regard. Creating a collaborative relationship based on trust is so important; I always encourage clients to take an active role in counselling by exploring their issues, feelings and beliefs, helping them to see things more clearly.
If needed, I can employ other specific counselling modalities that would be particularly helpful for your situation, such as transactional analysis or Gestalt therapy. We will always look to come up with a way of working that addresses your specific situation.
