Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello. I am Jen. I have been a qualified counsellor since 2018, and I work in an integrative model. What that really means is that I am person centred in my core – I believe that you are the expert on you, and that sometimes you need a space, and some support, to work out an issue or a challenge. I also draw on other modalities of counselling (this is where ‘integrative’ comes in) where appropriate to your circumstances.
I can work with many issues, and am happy to work with you on whatever it is that you want to bring. To give you an idea of the sort of things I have worked with more specifically I have supported challenges such as homelessness, addiction, family issues, parenting, adoption, study and student challenges, school attendance challenges, bereavement and loss, palliative care and life shortening conditions, child loss, religious trauma, work issues, and identity issues.
I work with adults and young people, and have a further qualification for working with young people as well as adults. I have done a lot of work with students of all ages too. I offer short and longer term counselling and I can see you face to face, online or by telephone.
Please get in touch if you have any further questions, and I look forward to working with you soon.

Jennifer “Jen” Somerville is a qualified counsellor who has worked in an integrative model since qualifying in 2018. Her practice is person-centred in its core – she works from the belief that each person is the expert on their own life and that a supportive space can help untangle issues and find a way forward.
Alongside a person-centred foundation, Jen draws on a range of other counselling approaches as appropriate to the individual situation. She has experience supporting a wide variety of challenges, including homelessness, addiction, family difficulties, parenting and adoption matters, study and student-related issues, school attendance concerns, bereavement and loss, palliative care and life-shortening conditions, child loss, religious trauma, workplace problems, and questions of identity.
Jen works with both adults and young people and holds a further qualification for working with young people as well as adults. She has carried out a significant amount of work with students of all ages and offers both short-term and longer-term counselling.
Sessions can be arranged face to face, online, or by telephone. Jen welcomes any enquiries and looks forward to the possibility of working together.
Many people ask whether meeting with a therapist online can truly help. For a range of common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes – online therapy can be comparable in effectiveness to traditional face-to-face work.
One major benefit is the flexibility it provides. Clients can choose the format that suits them best – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which can make it easier to fit therapy into a busy life.
Therapy delivered online is provided by licensed professionals who use established therapeutic approaches. If a different fit is needed at any point, it is possible to switch therapists to find the right match for the individual’s needs.
