Welcome! Thank you for stopping by!
If you are struggling with all things ANXIETY- overthinking, negative thoughts, feeling stuck, unmotivated, having difficulty in your career, pain, want to get ahead but you just can’t, have anxiety attacks or difficulty with your children and parenting, depression, struggling in your career and your purpose? Read on… I may be a great fit to work with you!
I am a licensed clinical social worker in the state of Georgia. I received my bachelor’s in Social Work from NC Central University in Durham, NC (Eagle Pride!) and my master’s in Direct Practice Social Work from SUNY Albany in Albany, NY.
I am a motivational therapist and believe nothing will change unless you do! I believe in the law of attraction and manifesting anything we want in our lives. It all begins with our thoughts. I am passionate about helping change our thoughts from defeat to being empowered.
Although I enjoy working with all populations, I have a tender heart for clients affectionally known as “Mom!” I recently authored the books: “15 Minute Journal Prompts for the Postpartum Mom”, “Mindful Mandalas for Moms” and “Her Path to PEACE.” I have experience working with children, military servicemen/women, couples and young adults.
I am a knowledgeable, warm and goal-oriented therapist. I use a variety of treatment modalities depending on your needs. I primarily focus on:
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Mindfulness
Acceptance and Commitment Focused Therapy
I’m happy to refer individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder, borderline PD, schizophrenia, eating disorders or substance abuse disorders to one of my colleagues.
I meet you exactly where you are with 0 judgement. I’d love to help you move from feeling anxious, confused, depressed or “stuck” to gaining clarity, feeling hopeful, happy and “unstuck”!
Let’s make the world your oyster! It would be my pleasure to work with you.

Akemi is open about limits of her practice and will refer individuals diagnosed with bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, schizophrenia, eating disorders, or substance use disorders to appropriate colleagues when that level of care is needed. She meets clients where they are without judgment and aims to help them feel less anxious, more hopeful, and more capable of making meaningful change.
Akemi McGoogan welcomes the opportunity to support clients who want to move from feeling stuck toward a life with more purpose and peace.
Many people ask whether remote therapy can genuinely help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and adapting to life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most people.
One major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the way that suits them best, whether by video, phone, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to fit counseling into busy schedules and to keep continuity of care.
All therapists providing services are licensed professionals, and if a different fit is desired, clients generally have the option to switch therapists. For many individuals facing everyday mental health concerns, online therapy offers an accessible and effective route to support and progress.
