Yolanda Frost

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a fully insured, licensed and BACP registered counsellor in the UK with many years of professional and counselling experience.

I have expertise in helping clients with grief and loss, anxiety, relationship issues, and the associated struggles that affect everyday life quality.

Availability and Times:
I work via live chat and asynchronous messaging only currently. I have a recurring schedule that would suit those who are up early. You can check my schedule for times I am available. If you send any messages to my inbox, I aim to respond within 24 hours. I am always happy to share resources and work through any specific life issues you might be facing.

Please be aware Betterhelp is not suitable for when you are in a mental health crisis and I do not offer emergency support. If you feel that is what you need, please contact your area’s mental health crisis line, Samaritans on 116 123 or if it is an emergency please dial 999.

Approach and Specialism:
I am always very keen to hear what might be important to you especially during our initial sessions to ensure you get what you need from our time together. I work in a person-centred experiential way, which means the focus is not just on the mind and the emotions, but also on the senses and bodily sensations, taking a holistic approach is most helpful to those suffering with anxiety nervous system related issues. I find the body-mind route makes a lot of sense to clients struggling to regulate and cope with everyday life.

I have a calm and empathic nature and always create a non-judgmental, and caring space where you can feel comfortable and safe to explore whatever it might be that is holding you back from living your life to the full.

I also have several years’ experience working within a Hospice providing counselling to clients and patients affected by the pain and grief of their loss; or coming to terms with a terminal diagnosis. I have witnessed the huge benefits to whole families when they had counselling during these difficult times of unbearable pain and sadness. It can be an extremely lonely and disorientating time to face on your own when a loved one dies and the feelings associated with the death of a significant person can be extremely complex, overwhelming, and unpredictable. You might find yourself dealing with feelings of anger, resentment, or other emotions which are hard to express when someone has died. Together we can work through your experiences and find some peace and comfort whilst building resilience and understanding.

Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can often feel scary and overwhelming and you might not know quite what you need, but I would like to encourage you to reach out and start working towards the future you deserve. At the outset we can discuss your needs and goals and agree on the number of sessions you feel you might need. I usually recommend at least 4 – 6 sessions before we review the work and plan where you would like to go from there.

Continued Professional Development Interests:
I regularly take part in Continued Professional Development. In keeping with my Ethical Framework I also have regular supervision to ensure I work ethically and safely.

Here is some of the CPD training I have done:

About

Yolanda Frost is a fully insured, licensed and BACP-registered counsellor practising in the United Kingdom with four years of professional and counselling experience. She specialises in supporting people with grief and loss, anxiety, relationship issues and the everyday struggles that can reduce life quality.

She currently offers therapy via live chat and asynchronous messaging only and maintains a recurring schedule that can suit those who are up early. If messages are sent to her inbox she aims to respond within 24 hours. Yolanda is willing to share resources and work through specific life issues with clients. She does not provide emergency support – if a mental health crisis is suspected she advises contacting local crisis services, the Samaritans on 116 123, or, in an emergency, calling 999.

Yolanda works in a person-centred, experiential way that attends to thoughts and emotions as well as sensory and bodily experience. She often uses a body-mind route to help people who struggle with anxiety and nervous system regulation, believing that attention to bodily sensations can aid coping and emotional regulation. Her manner is calm and empathic, and she creates a non-judgmental, caring space for clients to explore what may be holding them back.

She has several years of experience working within a hospice setting, providing counselling to people and families affected by pain, grief and terminal diagnosis. Yolanda has seen how counselling can benefit whole families during those very difficult times and works with complex, overwhelming and sometimes unpredictable feelings that follow loss – including anger and resentment – to help clients find some comfort, build resilience and make meaning.

Beginning therapy can feel daunting, and Yolanda encourages people to reach out even if they are unsure what they need. At the outset she discusses needs and goals and agrees on a number of sessions. She usually recommends at least four to six sessions before reviewing the work and planning next steps.

Yolanda takes part in continued professional development and has regular supervision in line with her ethical framework. Training and CPD she has completed include Somatic Therapy for Complex Trauma Certification Training (CCTP-II) Blakelee, Schwartz and Fisher – PESI; Embodied Meaning – Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Perspectives – Tony Buckley; Internal Family Systems – Frank Guastella PESI 2-day Intensive Workshop; Grief Works – Julia Samuel BACP; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – Charles Jacob PESI; New ways of thinking about gender, sex, and relationship diversity – Meg Johnson BACP; Understanding and Working with Shame in the Person-Centred Approach – Helen Skelton; Movement and feeling – BACP; Anxiety Certification Course – CBT and Response Prevention – PESI; Safeguarding Adults Level 2; Sexuality and Erotic Transference & Counter Transference.

Is Online Therapy the Right Choice for Your Mental Health Journey?

Many people wonder whether online therapy can really help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties or navigating life changes, research and practice indicate that remote therapy can be as effective as face-to-face work for most people.

One major benefit is flexibility – clients can choose the way of connecting that fits their life, whether that is video calls, phone sessions, live chat or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and to access support from wherever one is located.

Therapists who work online are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they feel another fit would be better. Online therapy can support progress on a wide range of everyday mental health concerns while offering practical convenience and multiple ways to engage.
