Tim Crosby

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a marriage and family therapist licensed in California, and I have over 10 years of experience as a psychotherapist. Over the years I have been trained in many evidence-based therapy modalities that help me to be effective in treating depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, and anger management. I also helped many people who have experienced trauma with a technique called Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy.

I believe in empowering an individual’s autonomy, meaning that the client is responsible and capable in making their own decisions. I treat client’s with respect and equip them to meet life’s challenges. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, narrative, solution-focused, and psychodynamic counseling depending on the client’s needs.

I can also provide Christian, biblically-rooted counseling to those who want therapy from this perspective. I will offer judgment-free therapy, especially for those often “taboo” topics (i.e. sexuality, pornography, ministry burnout, marital problems, pressure to be perfect). I will empower you to reach your own conclusions, while being full of “truth and grace.”

I believe the role of a therapist is to equip you, and then “work myself out of a job.” That means I believe you have the power to reach your goals and find positive support!

I look forward to working with you!

About

Tim Crosby is a marriage and family therapist licensed to practice in California with more than 10 years of experience as a psychotherapist. He has trained in a range of evidence-based therapy approaches, which he applies to help with depression, anxiety, stress, self-esteem concerns, relationship and family conflicts, parenting challenges, anger management, addictions, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related issues, eating disorders, LGBT-related concerns, and career difficulties. For clients who have experienced trauma he has specific experience using Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy.

He emphasizes client autonomy, believing individuals are capable of making their own decisions, and approaches each person with respect while equipping them to meet life’s challenges. His clinical work draws from cognitive-behavioral, narrative, solution-focused, and psychodynamic methods, selecting the combination that best fits a client’s needs.

For those who prefer spiritual integration, he offers Christian, biblically-rooted counseling and provides judgment-free care for topics that are often considered “taboo,” including sexuality, pornography, ministry burnout, marital problems, and the pressure to be perfect. He seeks to empower clients to arrive at their own conclusions while offering both “truth and grace.”

Tim views the therapist’s role as preparing and empowering people so he ultimately “works himself out of a job.” He looks forward to the opportunity to work with new clients.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people ask whether meeting with a therapist online can truly help. For a range of common concerns — including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and major life transitions — online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions. A major benefit is flexibility. You can connect in the way that suits you best: video appointments, phone conversations, live chat, or in-app messaging, which makes it easier to work therapy into a busy schedule and to choose the format that feels most comfortable. All therapists available are licensed professionals, and if you decide a different approach or therapist would be a better fit, you are free to switch at any time.
