My colleagues and clients usually call me Dr. J. I am a mental health professional with almost 30 years of experience working with adults and adolescents in various settings. I earned my masters and my doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Counseling, but I have an extensive experience providing individual and group counseling as well. I am also a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. My goal is to aid clients in developing the psychological tools needed to deal with complicated feelings and situations. Dr. Zvonka Jakopovic brings three decades of clinical experience to her work with adults and adolescents across a variety of treatment settings.
Known professionally as Dr. J by colleagues and clients, she holds both a master’s and a doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and is a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Her practice includes extensive experience in both individual and group counseling, and she focuses on helping people develop practical psychological skills to manage complex emotions and life situations.
Dr. Jakopovic addresses a wide range of concerns including stress and anxiety, trauma and abuse, grief and loss, depression, addictions, family and relationship conflicts, intimacy-related issues, anger management, self-esteem struggles, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue. She draws on client-centered methods as well as Gestalt, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), the Gottman Method, and family systems approaches to tailor treatment to each person’s needs.
