Vanessa Albergo is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who holds professional licenses across several states, including Florida, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, and South Carolina. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and provides counseling in both languages. Originally from New York, Vanessa moved to South Florida for college and has lived in the area for more than 15 years, where she has established both a family and a career.
Her clinical journey began during undergraduate studies and continued through graduate school, and she brings ten years of experience in mental health services. Vanessa’s background includes work with the Department of Children & Families serving children, experience with elderly individuals in skilled nursing facilities, and support for adolescents in group homes. She later provided counseling and advocacy for oncology patients at one of the largest cancer hospitals in South Florida. Her work also spans adults in inpatient rehabilitation for substance abuse and court-ordered treatment, as well as outpatient services within the LGBTQ community.
Vanessa’s training includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic approaches, solution-focused techniques, and additional methods that inform thorough treatment planning. Her priority is helping clients return to a baseline where they feel comfortable and able to function in daily life. She is known for being open minded, kindhearted, and empathetic; her guiding message is that she is there to assist clients in managing both recent and long-term stressors.
Vanessa works to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and emphasizes that everyone has good days and bad days—some people simply need guidance to manage change or prevent crises. Prospective clients are welcome to message her through Better Help, and she strives to offer flexible scheduling with evening availability to accommodate working people. Session hours are in Eastern Standard Time, and Vanessa looks forward to working with those ready to seek support.
Many people ask whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, research and clinical experience indicate that online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can connect in the format that fits their life, whether by video call, phone, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to fit therapy into busy schedules and to maintain continuity of care.
Licensed professionals provide care remotely, and clients can change therapists if they feel a different fit would be more helpful. Online therapy offers an accessible option for addressing everyday mental health challenges while offering many of the same therapeutic approaches used in face-to-face work.
