Teresa Buss is a Wisconsin-based licensed professional counselor with five years of experience who also holds training and licensure in art therapy. She has extensive experience working with children and adolescents, supporting youth from age four through 18, and has provided care for women and their children during addictions recovery.
She identifies as non-binary and is an LGBTQIA+ ally, and she prioritizes cultural competence by listening first to understand each person’s perspective. Teresa’s own journey through PTSD fuels a compassionate, non-judgmental therapeutic stance and motivates her interest in working with veterans.
Teresa’s approach is collaborative and person-centered; she honors diagnoses while emphasizing that people are more than the labels they receive. Her work emphasizes a bottom-up framework that draws on the body, breath-work, and image-making to support new neural connections and the development of healthier habits. She partners with each person to design a treatment plan that aligns with their goals.
Her life’s work is rooted in understanding how trauma affects mind, body, and spirit. Using current research, Teresa focuses on emotional regulation and helping people reframe narratives and patterns to foster post-traumatic growth. She has worked with a broad range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, addictions, self-worth, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, abuse, and parent-child challenges.
Teresa believes the path to wellness can be difficult but achievable through steady support and small steps. She looks forward to supporting people as they move toward greater well-being. She practices in Wisconsin and carries a Wisconsin professional counseling license (WI LPC 7754-125).
For many common concerns - such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life transitions - online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One clear advantage is flexibility. People can connect with a therapist in the format that suits them best, whether by video call, phone, live chat, or in-app messaging. This range of options can make it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule or to access care from a distance.
All therapists are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch to a different therapist if they want a different fit. For many, online therapy provides a practical, accessible way to pursue mental health goals with qualified support.
