Tania Valente is a licensed psychologist in Texas and a licensed marriage and family therapist in New Mexico. She practices with an interpersonal, systemic, and supportive orientation, grounded in the belief that healing often happens through compassionate relationships. She approaches each person’s goals with empathy and an open mind.
She brings 18 years of counseling experience and has worked in a wide range of settings, including inpatient psychiatric hospitalizations, non-profit organizations, community health centers, university counseling centers, integrated behavioral health care settings, hospice, and government agencies. Over the course of her career she has assisted people facing many life stressors, such as depression, anxiety, substance use concerns, family stressors, parenting difficulties, trauma, and end of life care.
Valente has specialized training in couples and family work using Gottman methods, integrated behavioral approaches, emotionally focused therapy, and solution-focused techniques. Her practice also incorporates several evidence-based treatments - cognitive behavioral therapy, written exposure treatment, EMDR, hypnotherapy, and motivational interviewing - to address a range of symptoms and needs. She is fluent in English, Portuguese, and Spanish and welcomes opportunities to include any of these languages in therapy.
Many people wonder whether remote therapy can make a meaningful difference. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
A key benefit is flexibility. Clients can connect in the way that suits them best - through video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging - which can make it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule.
Sessions are offered by licensed professionals, and clients may switch therapists at any time if they prefer a different fit. This variety of formats and the availability of licensed therapists make online therapy a practical option for many people seeking support.
