Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hi and welcome to BetterHelp! I am so glad you took this step to reach out. You may be a little scared or not know what to expect. Allow me to introduce myself and what this experience might be like for you.
My name is Tammy Kirschner and I have been a licensed psychologist since 1992. I have been providing therapy for 30 years and throughout my career, I have worked with clients experiencing acute or chronic depression, anxiety, relationship problems, family issues, low self-esteem, eating disorders, self-injurious behaviors and those who are in the midst of life’s many transitions. I have also worked as a career consultant for both small and large organizations, helping individuals write resumes and teach job search skills.
Right now, you may be feeling low, depressed, anxious, fearful or just plain “stuck”. Your head may be spinning and you might be totally overwhelmed by so many thoughts and emotions. Or perhaps you just need someone who you can vent to, someone who will listen, support and guide you. Or maybe it is one of those times in life when too many challenges are converging at one time and you don’t know what to do first. Whatever the case may be, please know that you are no longer alone. You’ve taken a very wise step in reaching out and together we can figure out what your needs are, what your goals are – even if they just are to feel better.
How is this done? I provide support and validation, as I believe that these are the bedrocks of forming a good therapeutic relationship. I also use CBT, DBT, Behavioral Therapies, supportive therapy, motivational interviewing and solution-based interventions to help people make decisions. I have worked in a variety of environments include college counseling centers, outpatient clinics for anxiety and/or phobias, eating disorder groups, inpatient psychiatric hospitals and I have maintained a private practice. I am a warm, nonjudgmental and supportive therapist and do not believe that any one type of intervention will help every person with every problem. Most importantly, I strongly believe that the therapeutic relationship should be collaborative, and work with my clients as a team. I tend to be a creative brainstormer, believe that sometimes, laughter is the best medicine, and I take a pretty active and proactive approach to therapy.
Together, we can organize your thoughts and work with whatever is feeling so overwhelming right now. I look forward to working with you and help support, guide and help you develop coping mechanisms that you can then use throughout your life. Let’s get started!
