Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Dr. Szczotka (Shotka) specializes in the growth and healing of the individual and the relationships that support us. Let’s work through conflict and change for the better.
*Scheduling disclaimer, I am currently only available on Sunday mornings and early afternoons. I apologize for my limited schedule.
I am approaching my 3rd decade of experience working with individuals, couples, and parents. I believe that treatment must be oriented around insight and change. The first step to change is to develop a practical understanding of the problem and the “why?”. The second step is to agree to work together to improve the problem by doing something different, the “how?”.
Understanding how to change, cope, and/or become a better or different you and different to others- partners, colleagues, children is not an easy task, but can start with healthy reflection, interpretation, and ultimately insight, understanding and change. This change can be accelerated through therapy. There is no “one size fits all” as we all have unique experiences, needs and differences that brought us to where we are at this moment, and then the next. You can expect to receive customized attention that strategically fits you and your lifestyle.
I am also passionate about helping other clinicians build skills, launch and persistently improve their personal practice. Supervision of counselors allows me to keep my pulse on the next generation and is a welcome compliment to my other professional endeavors.
My experience includes individual, marital, family and group therapy in both out-patient and in-patient care settings. I have taught undergraduate and graduate students at both college and university in the departments of psychology, counseling, education, and human resources. I am an occasional conference speaker and community panelist regarding issues of community health.

Dr. Stanley Szczotka focuses on the growth and healing of the individual and the relationships that support them. He invites clients to work through conflict and change with the goal of lasting improvement.
He is currently available only on Sunday mornings and early afternoons and apologizes for his limited schedule.
Approaching his third decade in practice, Dr. Szczotka has spent 30 years working with individuals, couples, and parents. He frames treatment around insight and change: the first step is to develop a practical understanding of the problem and the “why?”; the second step is to agree to address the issue by doing something different – the “how?”.
Learning how to change, cope, or become a different version of oneself – and to relate differently to partners, colleagues, or children – is challenging. Progress often begins with reflection and interpretation, and leads to insight, understanding, and concrete change. Therapy can accelerate that process. There is no one size fits all, so Dr. Szczotka provides customized attention designed to fit each person’s unique experiences and lifestyle.
He is also committed to helping other clinicians develop skills, launch practices, and continually improve. Supervising counselors helps him stay connected to the next generation of practitioners and complements his other professional activities. His experience spans individual, marital, family, and group therapy in both outpatient and inpatient care settings. He has taught undergraduate and graduate students at both college and university levels in the departments of psychology, counseling, education, and human resources, and he serves occasionally as a conference speaker and community panelist. Dr. Szczotka holds a Michigan professional counseling license (LPC number 6401009712).
Many people wonder whether remote therapy can produce meaningful results. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or major life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility – clients can choose the format that best fits their routines and comfort, whether that is video sessions, phone calls, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability can make it easier to maintain regular appointments and integrate therapeutic work into a busy life.
Each therapist involved in online care is a licensed professional, and individuals have the option to change therapists if they seek a different therapeutic fit. For many people, this combination of effectiveness and convenience makes online therapy a practical choice for addressing everyday mental health needs.
