Sophie Lockwood is a UK-licensed counsellor with four years of professional experience and is a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), which reflects adherence to recognised professional guidelines and a clear code of ethics. She practises as a female, non-religious therapist based in the United Kingdom.
She works from a person-centred perspective, specialising in addiction, sexual trauma and domestic violence while also supporting people with stress, anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, relationship and family difficulties, grief, anger, low self-esteem and coping with life changes. Her approach is non-directive and aims to help clients understand what is happening for them in the here and now.
Sophie has significant experience in mental health settings. She currently works as a Mental Health Specialist supporting women who have experienced sexual trauma, violence, exploitation and trafficking. Her background includes volunteering as a counsellor with women facing anxiety and domestic violence, and previous roles as a Recovery Worker and a Harm Reduction Worker supporting people with substance misuse, tailoring care to each person’s needs.
She believes that each person is the expert in their own story and brings a warm, friendly and supportive presence to the therapy space. Sophie aims to offer a welcoming, non-judgemental environment where clients can explore challenges, build understanding and develop greater self-sufficiency. She does not claim to have all the answers but is committed to empowering clients as they take steps toward a more fulfilling life.
