Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Okay, I am Shane, a counsellor who lives and works in Wiltshire, UK.
I provide a safe space for you and with a calm, natural, relaxed, way about me it solidifies that. In that space you will have no fear of judgement, can talk openly, swear, be able to express yourself in words, metaphors, images, drawing or music. Whatever feels best for you, I think it is important to work with your strengths, for example if you are a visual person imagery and metaphor may be a great way to express yourself and to incorporate in our work together.
I do like to challenge you when it is appropriate, so for example you may see a certain event from your past or behaviour you have in one way and one way only because you are you, I can help you shine a light on a different viewpoint, uncover it and make it open to you. I believe challenge is how we grow and get where we want.
Honesty, congruence, genuineness, however you want to call it I believe is vital to counselling work and therefore will be completely genuine with you. So if something comes into my head as we are discussing I will bring that into the room, of course only if it’s appropriate and I felt that you would be okay with it. I understand that what I have just said could be scary, but it is something that builds up between us alongside the working relationship.
Working with your present situation and feelings are obviously what we will do, but at times when appropriate, looking into your past can be really helpful. For me it is how your past affects your present life, whether that is learnt behaviours, triggers, past experiences or trauma, understanding where the origin of your feeling or issue may have come from. This can be hard to look back and visit places or times that hurt, confuse or frustrate, that is why I am here to help you visit them safely.
I am very active and responsive, so I will check in with you via the messaging service, respond as soon as I can to your messages, send worksheets which I feel may be of use or interest to you, am happy helping you set goals and want to help you as much as I can. That is why I am here, helping and supporting you to reach where you want to go.
Take care

Shane Carter is a counsellor based in Wiltshire, UK, who offers a calm, natural and relaxed presence to help people feel safe and heard.
He creates a non-judgemental space where clients can speak freely, use strong language if needed, and explore themselves through words, metaphors, images, drawing or music. Shane works with each person’s strengths, adapting methods – for example using imagery and metaphor with visual thinkers – so the way of working fits the individual.
When appropriate, he will offer gentle challenge to help clients see alternative perspectives on past events or habitual behaviour. Shane values honesty, congruence and genuineness in the therapeutic relationship and will share thoughts in the room when it seems helpful and acceptable to the client, recognising this can feel daunting but is part of building trust.
Sessions focus on the present experience while also exploring how past learning, triggers, experiences or trauma may influence current feelings and responses. He aims to support clients in visiting difficult memories or emotions safely, guiding that exploration at a manageable pace.
Shane is active and responsive between sessions, checking in via the messaging service, replying as promptly as he can, offering worksheets he thinks will be useful, and assisting with goal-setting. His approach is practical and supportive, oriented toward helping people move toward where they want to go.
