Sara Markham combines empathy and intuition to understand each person and situation, offering compassionate care that honors clients' struggles, goals, hopes, desires, and histories.
She focuses on building genuine, individualized therapeutic relationships that aim to give clients the confidence to pursue change. Using a blend of therapeutic techniques, she meets people where they are, helps clarify goals, supports the development of self-confidence, and works to make relationships more effective and intentional.
Sara works with a wide range of concerns including stress, anxiety, relationship issues, eating disorders, low self-esteem, depression, addictions, LGBT-related matters, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related issues, sleep difficulties, anger management, adjustment to life changes, coaching needs, compassion fatigue, and ADHD.
Licensed to practice marriage and family therapy in California (CA LMFT 44713), Sara has three years of clinical experience. Her approach draws on research about the brain and how focused attention on inner experience can foster empathy, insight, and gradual changes in patterns of relating.
Through empathic attunement and a collaborative therapeutic relationship, Sara guides clients in exploring how past experiences, beliefs, or unresolved trauma may be influencing present behavior. This work aims to increase self-understanding and open pathways for more harmonious ways of interacting with oneself and others.
Clients who engage in this process may find that clearer communication, improved emotional regulation, and greater self-awareness contribute to meaningful progress in relationships, work, and everyday life.
