Sara Dabney trained first as a yoga teacher while she completed a massage therapy license in 2014, a foundation that informs her mind-body approach to care. She earned a Master of Social Work from the University of South Florida, received Title IV funding for an emphasis in child maltreatment, and contributed to graduate research examining HIV and PTSD symptomatology.
In practice she blends cognitive behavioral therapy with mindfulness techniques, motivational interviewing, and client-centered methods to support people facing stress, anxiety, trauma and abuse, low self-esteem, depression, addictions, relationship and family conflicts, grief, intimacy concerns, eating disorders, parenting challenges, anger management, and other life adjustments. She welcomes people of all faiths, gender identities including nonconforming individuals, sexual orientations, and walks of life.
Sara is a Florida licensed clinical social worker, a professional credential that reflects advanced social work training and authorization to provide clinical therapy. With five years of clinical experience, she brings both practical and research-informed perspectives to her work. She shares the simple reminder: “Remember, changing the things you think about might just change the way you think about things.”
Many people wonder whether meeting with a therapist online can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the format that fits their needs, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to incorporate therapy into busy schedules.
Each therapist involved in online care is a licensed professional, and clients have the option to change therapists if they prefer a different fit.
