Sam Callaway brings a long history of counseling experience that began in church ministry and has continued for more than four decades. He has been a licensed professional counselor in Texas for 18 years, and for the past 15 years he has worked on Child Protective Services cases involving family dysfunction, addiction, and various forms of abuse.
Sam holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in theology as well as a professional counseling degree in psychology. He served as a senior pastor of an evangelical church for 43 years, a role that deepened his exposure to a wide range of human struggles and strengths.
He continues to provide religious counseling for those seeking spiritual meaning while also addressing issues such as stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, family conflict, grief, parenting concerns, addictions, trauma and abuse, intimacy-related struggles, anger management, self-esteem, career challenges, depression, coping with life changes, coaching, and compassion fatigue.
His clinical approach blends cognitive-behavioral techniques with client-centered, Rogerian principles rooted in respect and compassion. Sam believes every person has a positive and successful self to discover - a process that can take time but is worthwhile - and he invests personally in the wellbeing of the people he sees.
Many people ask whether meeting with a therapist online truly helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and navigating life transitions, online therapy has been found to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care.
A major benefit is the flexibility to connect in the way that fits a person’s schedule and comfort level - through video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This makes it easier to include therapy in a busy life and to maintain consistent support over time.
All therapists are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they prefer a different fit. For many people, the combination of clinical expertise and adaptable access makes online therapy a practical and effective choice for addressing everyday mental health concerns.
