Robyn Petersen is a licensed clinical social worker practicing in Oklahoma with 16 years of experience providing therapy and case management. She holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in social work from Missouri State University and is an Air Force veteran. Robyn currently works for the Department of Veterans Affairs, serving veterans with Serious Mental Illness.
Her clinical background includes work in hospice, community mental health, child welfare, and on an inpatient geriatric psychiatric unit. She uses a strengths-based approach, preferring to assess each person’s existing resources and build on those skills. Robyn’s style is open and genuine; she treats people with respect, dignity, and compassion and emphasizes support and validation as important parts of the therapeutic process.
Robyn works with a broad range of concerns, including stress, anxiety, family conflicts, self-esteem, depression, coping with life changes, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, grief, parenting challenges, anger management, career difficulties, bipolar disorder, ADHD, caregiver stress, adjustment disorders, end-of-life issues, aging and geriatric concerns, and dementia including Alzheimer’s disease. Within sessions she draws on a variety of treatment approaches to match each person’s needs, including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, mindfulness therapy, solution-focused therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. She encourages taking the first step and offers guidance for those beginning their journey toward improved mental wellness.
