Robert Wubbenhorst helps people who feel stuck, empty, or disconnected find a way forward. He emphasizes that many unhelpful patterns develop over years and that healing comes from reconnecting with inner strengths and strengthening practical tools to address difficult issues. With compassionate guidance, clients can move toward peace about their past and renewed hope for the future.
He holds a Master of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies in Counselor Education and Supervision. He is a National Certified Counselor, is qualified as an Approved Clinical Supervisor to support emerging counselors, has training as a clinical hypnotherapist, and holds a Vermont clinical mental health counselor license (VT LCMHC 068.0072017). Robert brings 15 years of clinical experience to his work.
Robert’s background includes practice in community mental health, higher education, and private practice, offering both individual and group counseling. He has worked with a range of populations, including veterans, law enforcement personnel, adults in day treatment programs with severe mental illness, and in secondary school settings. He also has considerable experience in counselor education and supervision for graduate interns and post-masters licensure candidates, as well as training in crisis intervention, suicide prevention, and mental health first-aid.
His clinical focus is varied, with much of his work centered on depression, anxiety, and trauma. His areas of specialty include stress, anxiety, trauma and abuse, self-esteem, depression, coaching, addictions, relationship issues, grief, intimacy-related concerns, sleeping disorders, anger management, career difficulties, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue.
Robert welcomes inquiries to discuss whether his approach is a good fit. He understands that finding the right counselor can take time and values honesty in the therapeutic relationship, encouraging clients to choose what is best for their own well-being.
Many people wonder whether remote therapy truly helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions for most individuals.
A major benefit of online work is flexibility - clients can connect in the format that fits their life and comfort level, whether that is a video call, a phone session, live chat, or ongoing in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to maintain continuity of care and to fit sessions into a busy schedule.
Licensed professionals provide online therapy, and clients have the option to change therapists if they decide a different fit would be better. For many, remote sessions offer a practical, effective way to address everyday mental health needs while preserving the quality of professional support.
