Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
My name is Risa Mendelson. I have an MA in Rehabilitation Counseling and Community Inclusion. This degree enabled me to be able to serve diverse populations of clients to evaluate individual needs and plan and implement interventions. I have a BS in psychology (Human Development) and I am a licensed Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. My experience as a therapist has enhanced my skills to be a passionate and dedicated counselor and it allowed me to look at each individual holistically (mentally, physically, and emotionally). I have experience working with diverse populations of clients who have physical challenges.
My approach is a collaboration of approaches (cognitive therapy, DBT, cognitive-behavioral, and mindfulness therapy). I have experience working with anxiety, decreased self-esteem, relationship issues, time management, and traumatic brain injury.

Risa Mendelson holds a Master of Arts in Rehabilitation Counseling and Community Inclusion and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a focus on Human Development. She also trained and worked as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant. Risa is a licensed professional counselor in Michigan and has six years of clinical experience.
Her work is informed by training that supports evaluating individual needs and planning and implementing targeted interventions. She approaches each person holistically – attending to mental, physical, and emotional factors when developing treatment plans. That background includes experience with diverse populations and with clients who face physical challenges, including those with traumatic brain injury.
Risa blends several therapeutic methods in a collaborative way, drawing on cognitive therapy, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), cognitive-behavioral techniques, and mindfulness practices. She works with a wide range of concerns including stress, anxiety, self-esteem issues, career difficulties, depression, addictions, relationship and family conflicts, trauma and abuse, grief, anger management, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, and ADHD, and she addresses practical skills such as time management.
For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life transitions – online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions. It can provide meaningful support for the issues people seek help for most often.
One of the main strengths of remote care is convenience. Clients can connect with a therapist in whatever format feels most comfortable and practical, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. That flexibility often makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and maintain consistency over time.
All participating clinicians are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they want a different fit. Online therapy can be a flexible, effective option for many people looking to address everyday concerns and navigate life changes.
