Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Life’s path is not always straight. There are curves, bumps & cracks.
Do you know where you are on your path? As a Licensed Psychologist, giving therapy is more than just a mere session between a patient and a practitioner – I see it as a shared journey. I utilize different and customized approaches to counseling to treat what obstacles are on your path. I am also a certified rehabilitation counselor with over 20 years experience in the field of disabilities. Together we will learn who you are and what you will become on your journey. We will utilize various techniques mediation breathing mindfulness and awareness. On your journey, together, we will discover you and all of the parts that you are. By accepting all those parts, things will start to be different. Through your journey we will explore different ways being mindful, being in the present and being grateful and accepting of yourself. This will lead you to different paths and different discoveries and lead to a deeper appreciation of who you are and what you are becoming. I look forward to traveling this journey and your path of discovery with you!
A little more about me…
Becoming a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of New York is one of my greatest accomplishments. But so is getting in and out of bed, exercising in the morning and then going out into the world to help others. You see, I was born with cerebral palsy, and simple tasks for most people (like getting dressed and getting in and out of a car) can sometimes present monumental challenges for my body and mind. Even though I am considered disabled, it’s because of my physical challenges that I have learned an incredible amount through the process of being me. I have learned what kind of mindset helps and hurts our ability to deal with setbacks, conquer fears, reach our goals, find love and become the best person we can be.
My specialty is working with people who identify as disabled, but of course, since we are all the same at our core, all of the principles I practice and share can be applied to the able-bodied as well! I am also trained in psychedelic integration for those who consider themselves psycho nuts! (er, I mean Psychonauts! lol)

Dr. Richard Tscherne approaches therapy as a collaborative journey rather than a series of isolated appointments. He helps people navigate life’s curves, bumps, and cracks by tailoring therapeutic methods to the obstacles each person faces.
He brings three years of experience providing psychotherapy and is licensed to practice clinical psychology in the state of New York. In addition, he is a certified rehabilitation counselor with more than 20 years of experience working in the field of disabilities, a background that informs his work with both disabled and non-disabled individuals.
Dr. Tscherne works with concerns such as stress, anxiety, self-esteem, career difficulties, depression, coping with life changes, addictions, grief, anger management, and ADHD. His approach integrates meditation, breathing exercises, mindfulness, and awareness techniques alongside other individualized strategies to help clients recognize and accept all parts of themselves.
Born with cerebral palsy, he draws on lived experience to understand how mindset and practical supports shape recovery, goal pursuit, relationships, and day-to-day functioning. He is also trained in psychedelic integration for people who are exploring that approach.
Dr. Tscherne aims to help people develop present-moment awareness, gratitude, and self-acceptance so they can open up new paths of discovery and appreciation for who they are becoming. He invites individuals to join him on that path of exploration and growth.
For many common concerns – including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and adjusting to life changes – online therapy has been found to be as effective as traditional in-person therapy. This applies especially to widely shared issues that respond well to talk therapy and evidence-based techniques.
One major advantage of remote care is flexibility. People can connect with therapists in the format that best fits their needs and schedule – whether by video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This range of options makes it easier to keep consistent appointments and integrate therapy into a busy life.
All participating clinicians are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch therapists if they feel another fit would be better. For many, the effectiveness and convenience of online therapy make it a practical way to access ongoing mental health support.
