Regina Phelps is a California-based Marriage and Family Therapist who combines a lengthy background in social services with focused clinical practice. She has worked in the social services field for approximately 25 years, has been a licensed therapist since 2012, and has nine years of experience providing therapy services.
She provides individual, couples, and group therapy in both residential and outpatient settings, working with people facing anxiety, relationship and parenting concerns, grief and loss, addiction, trauma, and life transitions. Her practice also includes work with military members, veterans, and first responders.
Regina’s therapeutic stance is client-centered - she begins new therapeutic relationships by meeting each person where they are and supporting them through their individual process of self-discovery and personal growth. She collaborates with clients to develop treatment plans that reflect each person’s needs and goals.
Clinically, she draws on evidence-based methods such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy, and integrates elements of Narrative, Strategic, and Family Systems approaches when appropriate. She also uses Motivational Interviewing, twelve-step support, and psychodynamic interventions to address addiction, codependency, and other challenges.
She is licensed by the State of California as a Marriage and Family Therapist and earned a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from California State University, Fresno. Regina is trained in Psychological First Aid and works to create a space where difficult conversations can be held and progress can be made.
She appreciates the courage it takes to seek additional support, values the trust clients place in her, and looks forward to working with those ready to address their personal challenges.
