Dr. Persa Maerz recognises that reaching out is often the most important first step toward improved wellbeing and a more positive outlook. She understands how difficult it can be to open up, and she works collaboratively with each person to progress one step at a time.
A UK-licensed therapist with nine years of experience, Dr. Maerz sees people from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures. She provides support for children, teenagers and adults, drawing on experience as both a CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) practitioner and an adult therapist.
Her clinical career includes Consultant, Lead and Supervisor Specialist roles across several services and clinics, and she offers therapy alongside clinical supervision for trainees and other psychologists. Teaching and guiding emerging clinicians is something she particularly enjoys.
Dr. Maerz is trained in several therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Person-Centred Therapy and Psychodynamic therapy. She is also a trauma-focused CBT therapist with years of experience working with PTSD, and she provides non-directive play therapy for children. Her approach is evidence-based and is tailored to the individual needs of each client.
Her areas of work include anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, self-exploration, OCD, PTSD, phobias, loss and adjustment to life changes, bullying, personality disorder work, low mood, abuse, emotional wellbeing, relaxation, relationship difficulties and loss, self-discovery, cultural adjustment, stress, discrimination and many other concerns. Dr. Maerz invites people to take that first step and to discuss a therapy or supervision plan together.
