Parule Basu-Barua is a UK-licensed psychotherapist with over 1,500 clinical hours and five years of experience. She specialises in supporting people affected by trauma and abuse, and in addressing the depression, anxiety and addiction that can follow such experiences. A number of her clients seek help for eating disorders, including anorexia, atypical anorexia and bulimia, and she recognises many elements of addictive behaviour within these presentations. Rather than rely on diagnostic templates alone, she works with each person as an individual, attending to their uniqueness to uncover root issues. After more than 20 years working at a senior level in television and media in both the UK and the USA, she retrained as a psychotherapist to apply her skills in connecting with others and understanding the human condition. She holds a diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from London and completed a degree at The Metanoia Institute, earning a 2:1 (Hons). She is now working on her Master’s at King’s College London in Neuroscience & Psychology. Parule creates an open and safe environment where thoughts and feelings can be shared without fear of judgment. She recognises that beginning therapy takes courage and believes that engaging in the work can bring insight and emotional nourishment.
