Nina Wilson is a qualified counsellor with seven years of practice, trained in humanistic and existential approaches. She works from a holistic perspective, supporting clients across psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual dimensions while avoiding reducing a person to a diagnosis or a set of problems.
She uses a person-centred framework at the core of her work, placing each individual at the centre of their care. As an integrative counsellor, she draws on Person-Centred Therapy and elements of DBT, Transactional Analysis, CBT, Existential Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Feminist Therapy, tailoring these methods to the needs of each client. She is LGBT aware, trauma informed and multiculturally aware.
Nina predominantly works with addiction and recovery and has experience supporting people with ADHD and neurodiversity, domestic abuse, trauma and PTSD, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, kleptomania, hoarding, loss and grief, boundary setting, communication difficulties, and self-harm. Prior to training as a therapist she spent over 28 years working in the care sector across settings from elderly care to long-term institutionalised mental health care, experience that has contributed to her ability to build effective therapeutic relationships.
She recognises that taking the first step into therapy can feel daunting and requires courage. Based in the United Kingdom, Nina aims to support clients as they find ways to live with, manage or overcome the issues they face and considers it a privilege to be part of that journey.
