Dr. Montgomery Prescod provides individual, couples, and family counseling to adults and adolescents, using cognitive-behavioral, client-centered, and interpersonal approaches to help clients recognize and change unhelpful patterns of thought and behavior.
He works with people to develop a more balanced relationship with themselves, others, and their environment, and to build more satisfying relationships that improve the ability to manage stress. His work often includes mindfulness techniques and individualized treatment plans for anxiety and depression.
He is licensed to practice professional counseling in South Carolina (SC LPC 7558), is a Board Certified TeleMental Health Provider, and serves as a PREPARE/ENRICH assessment facilitator for premarital and marital couples. With eight years of clinical experience, he addresses a wide range of concerns including stress, trauma and abuse, anger management, bipolar disorder, addictions, LGBT issues, relationship and family conflicts, grief, intimacy and parenting challenges, self-esteem and career difficulties, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue, and ADHD.
Dr. Prescod is trained in Childhood Emotional Neglect and helps clients target the mental, behavioral, and emotional effects that can emerge from that experience, such as difficulties with emotional awareness, coping, and relationships. A military veteran with more than 28 years of service, he connects well with the veteran community and understands military culture.
He looks forward to working with new clients and supporting them toward clearer coping strategies and more satisfying relationships.
