Michelle Fennessy

Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships

About

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida. I earned my Master’s degree from Columbia University in New York, and my Bachelor of Psychology from Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts.
Reaching out for help takes courage and self- awareness, so if you’re here I hope you give yourself credit for taking this important step to heal and transform, or simply to feel better. The idea of sharing your most private, painful, or even scary feelings with someone you don’t know could be intimidating initially, especially if this is your first time in counseling—-but I assure you—-you’re not alone.

Part of my graduate training to become a therapist required that I be a client myself (I may be biased but I think anyone could benefit from therapy). Even so, no matter how beneficial I believed psychotherapy to be, it always took me time to open up and finally feel safe enough to reveal the thoughts or feelings that bothered me about myself or my circumstances. The journey was always worth it.

As an experienced therapist now, I can tell you that each of us has a gift and I can see the beauty in a person early on, no matter what the concerns are. Most of the time we just want to know that we’re not alone. You are a gift, you are not alone, and you deserve to feel better.

My particular areas of expertise are anxiety, depression, trauma and heartbreak. I work with people in “middle marriage” crisis. I help men and women modify addictive or self- destructive behaviors such as binge-eating, over- drinking, resisting the urge to text, call, or social media “stalk” someone they know isn’t good for them. I specialize in the unique stressors of the ex-patriot life both psychotherapeutically and personally, having lived and worked abroad myself for many years.

My approach is rooted in the Strengths Perspective , Cognitive Behavioral, and Goal Oriented therapy. I am fascinated by Energy Psychology and I believe a shift to a thought or story that feels better, will change a person’s energy enough to allow good things to flow to and from the individual. The key is to find the better feeling thought so that this can happen with ease.

Some clients come to me for help utilizing and understanding the role Law of Attraction can have in their lives for making their hopes and dreams manifest. Whatever your wish is for entering therapy, you deserve a life that you love and a life that loves you back. I believe I can help you feel better and achieve your heart’s desires.

About

Michelle Fennessy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in Florida. She earned her master’s degree from Columbia University and holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Mount Holyoke College. She is licensed to provide clinical social work services in the state of Florida and brings twenty years of clinical experience to her practice.

Michelle understands that reaching out for support requires courage and self-awareness, and she encourages anyone taking that step to give themselves credit for it. She recognizes that sharing private, painful, or frightening feelings with someone new can feel intimidating, particularly for those new to counseling, and she emphasizes that no one has to make that journey alone.

During her graduate training Michelle experienced therapy as a client herself, which shaped her belief in the value of the therapeutic process. That experience also informs her patience with the time it often takes to feel safe enough to reveal troubling thoughts or feelings. She believes the effort is worth it.

She brings a strengths-based, cognitive behavioral, and goal-oriented approach to her work, and she is also interested in Energy Psychology. Michelle believes that shifting to a thought or story that feels better can alter a person’s energy and allow positive change to follow. Some clients seek her perspective on the Law of Attraction and its role in making hopes and goals more attainable. She aims to help people move toward a life they enjoy and that supports their deepest wishes.

Michelle’s particular clinical focus includes anxiety, depression, trauma, and heartbreak. She works with individuals experiencing “middle marriage” crisis and assists men and women in modifying addictive or self-destructive behaviors such as binge-eating, over-drinking, or resisting the urge to text, call, or social media “stalk” someone who is not healthy for them. She also specializes in the stressors of ex-patriate life, having lived and worked abroad for many years, and supports clients with grief, self-esteem, family conflict, intimacy-related issues, parenting challenges, anger management, career difficulties, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue.

Is Online Therapy the Right Step Toward Better Mental Health?

Many people wonder whether remote therapy truly helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or navigating life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.

A key benefit is flexibility – clients can connect in the way that fits their life, choosing video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. That variety makes it easier to attend sessions around work, family, and other commitments.

Licensed professionals deliver online therapy, and if a client feels the need to try a different therapist, switching is an option. For many people, the convenience and comparable effectiveness of online sessions make this a practical, accessible route to support and growth.
