Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
I am licensed in the state of Ohio to independently practice counseling, and I have training in three different evidence based therapies; EMDR, CBT, and DBT. I have a lengthy history of working with survivors of trauma, and I am able to help clients manage symptoms of anxiety, challenge and test the accuracy of thoughts that maybe causing problems; and help with managing emotions and improving communication. Throughout the course of my counseling sessions, I challenge clients to identify their professional and personal supporters and to not engage in unsafe behaviors. I encourage the clients I work with to learn skills to “fill their toolboxes” with skills so that they can improve their ability to independently manage symptoms and the overcome obstacles they face in life. It is hard work to make changes in your life through counseling and I will challenge you to reach your potential. I will also help you to celebrate your successes when they occur. And they will occur. I look forward to working with you.

Melanie Dente is a licensed counselor who practices independently in Ohio and also holds licensure to work as a mental health counselor in Washington. She brings six years of clinical experience and focused training in three evidence-based therapies: EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
She has an extensive background supporting survivors of trauma and works with people experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, compassion fatigue, grief, anger, relationship and family conflicts, low self-esteem, career difficulties, and life transitions. Melanie helps clients reduce symptoms of anxiety, examine and test unhelpful or inaccurate thoughts, regulate emotions, and strengthen communication skills.
Throughout treatment she encourages clients to identify their professional and personal supports and to avoid unsafe behaviors. Melanie emphasizes skill-building so people can “fill their toolbox” with practical strategies to manage symptoms independently and move past obstacles. She acknowledges that change through counseling takes hard work, and she will both challenge clients to reach their potential and support them in celebrating their successes when they occur. Melanie looks forward to working with individuals ready to engage in that process.
