Welcome, I am May, a counsellor who is dedicated to helping you navigate the complexities life can bring. Using evidence based approaches, compassion and empathy we can focus on stress, abuse, family issues, depression and any other aspects of your life that may be causing you distress, panic attacks or anxiety. My goal is to provide you with a safe and supportive space where you can achieve personal growth and therapeutic work. By developing a healthy relationship between us, the goal is that you can then replicate this with other family members, friends and even with yourself. I offer person centred counselling drawing from other modalities when needed such as CBT.
My specialist areas include working with trauma, neurodivergent clients, ADHD and Autism and I am even completing a Masters Degree focusing on ASD in women, and the impacts of family estrangement. I have recently completed several trauma and C/PTSD CPD trainings, to enhance my work in this area.
I have experience working with psychosis, addiction, alcoholism, personality disorders such as BPD, and bipolar. But please note that I do not work with eating disorders, or children at this time.
Whether you want to seek support for a specific issue, or are feeling sad or lonely and need someone to talk to, please feel free to reach out.
I offer sessions weekly and fortnightly, with some clients choosing to move to a monthly check in to help facilitate a supported ending. Counselling is so individual and I cannot tell you how long you would need sessions for, but I do offer long term work and short term work.
