Mallery Higgs is a Licensed Professional Counselor in private practice who specializes in individual therapy and sports performance counseling for adolescents, athletes, and adults between the ages of 14 and 35. She is based in Atlanta, Georgia and is originally from Omaha, Nebraska.
She earned a Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a Master in Community Counseling from Argosy University, Atlanta. Mallery is a Georgia Licensed Professional Counselor - GA LPC LPC012184 - and is also nationally certified, bringing more than eleven years of clinical mental health experience alongside over 30 years of coaching and mentoring experience.
As a former student-athlete, coach, and mentor, Mallery draws on a long history in sports to connect with clients. She is a 3 Sport High School Letterman (basketball, volleyball, track & field, and youth gymnastics) and continued to run track at the University of Tennessee on a full-ride scholarship. Her athletic background also includes induction into four sports Halls of Fame and ongoing involvement coaching and mentoring youth and high school track and field.
Her clinical work focuses on helping people dismantle barriers that interfere with success and well-being. Mallery understands the pressures faced by high-performing student-athletes and others who experience stress, anxiety, depression, body image concerns, or acute and chronic injuries that can affect everyday life and performance. Through coaching and mentoring she has worked to empower personal development and help individuals realize their potential, and she remains an active advocate for diversity and cultural inclusion.
Mallery approaches therapy as a collaborative partnership, aiming to build a nurturing, non-judgmental space where clients feel protected, accepted, and heard.
Online therapy can be an effective option for many common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, and navigating life transitions. Research and clinical experience indicate that, for these issues, remote sessions can produce outcomes comparable to traditional in-person care.
A key benefit of online therapy is flexibility. Clients can connect in the way that suits them best - through video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging - which makes it easier to fit therapy into busy schedules and maintain continuity of care.
All participating clinicians are licensed professionals, and clients may change therapists at any time if they feel another provider would be a better fit. For many people, online therapy offers a practical, adaptable path to addressing mental health and personal development needs.
