Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Have you survived a childhood of emotional neglect? Emotional neglect in childhood can lead to a great deal of confusion in adult life. Aftereffects may include a drive to prove oneself through over-achievement, excessive self-doubt and criticism, and a disconnection from one’s own needs. These aftereffects can be exacerbated if one or both parents were narcissistic. For many women, providing care-giving in relationships is not a choice; it is our sole identity. It may be the only way we feel valued. Together, let’s resolve the grief and loss surrounding your history, so that you can live to your full potential, find inner harmony and peace.
Providing virtual and phone sessions in Colorado and Arizona.
I work primarily with adult women with histories of emotional neglect and trauma. I have expertise in the areas of bereavement and loss, PTSD, and alcoholic family systems. I have also studied with Karyl McBride, author of Will I Ever Be Good Enough? Healing the Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers.
I am also the author of a fictional memoir. Mother Load is the story of Pamela, a young woman who suffered emotional neglect in her relationship with her adoptive mother. If you love to read and you’d like to immerse yourself in a novel that details my work, you can visit the website at Lori Bennett Books dot com.
Most people begin psychotherapy at a point in their lives when what they have been doing in the world is no longer working for them. They would like to find alternative ways to think, act, feel, communicate, and perceive themselves, but do not have the tools to discover those alternatives on their own. Many people also go through life with unresolved losses that can affect their behaviors and attitudes about others. I am very familiar with helping people to examine their relationship struggles and patterns, and to create positive changes through increased communication and connection.
It has always been my privilege as a psychotherapist to assist clients to reach their goals and empower themselves to live to their full potential.
