Give yourself some grace! The journey to health and healing may be difficult. I would like to walk beside you while you explore, YOU!
My name is Lanita Sunshine Patterson. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Professional Addiction Counselor (LAC) and certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (AADC). I have experience working with anxiety, depression, life transitions, behavioral challenges, substance abuse, and self-esteem.
Various treatment modalities are utilized to meet the unique needs of everyone and to create a lifestyle of mental, spiritual, emotional and physical health and wellness including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Solution Focus (SF) and Client Centered Therapy (CCT).
I believe in being authentic, transparent and using person-centered approaches in treatment. My passion is to empower individuals to cope with everyday stress, identify triggers, challenge negative self-talk and live a life of intention and grace. I strive to ensure each life I touch feels respected, validated and challenged to live the life they desire.
I look forward to walking through this journey with you.

Lanita Sunshine Patterson invites people to approach their healing with patience and self-compassion. With eight years of clinical experience, she partners with adults facing addictions, self-esteem struggles, career difficulties, major life transitions, stress, anxiety, depression, and compassion fatigue, and she also offers coaching to support personal growth.
She holds a master’s degree (MA) and is licensed to practice as a professional counselor in South Carolina (SC LPC 8179). In addition, she is credentialed in addiction care as a Licensed Professional Addiction Counselor and as an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor, which supports her work with substance-use concerns.
Lanita draws from a range of therapeutic approaches to match each person’s needs and goals. She employs Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Solution Focus (SF), and Client-Centered Therapy (CCT) to help clients build mental, spiritual, emotional, and physical wellbeing.
Known for an authentic and transparent style, she uses person-centered practices to help people manage everyday stress, recognize triggers, challenge negative self-talk, and design a life led with intention and grace. She aims to make each person she works with feel respected, validated, and constructively challenged as they pursue the life they want.
Lanita is available for scheduled sessions and is willing to consider alternate appointment times when needed; prospective clients may leave a message to inquire about options.
Many people wonder if remote sessions can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person care.
One major benefit is the flexibility it provides. Clients can choose the format that feels most comfortable and convenient – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which can make it easier to fit therapy into a busy life.
All therapists involved are licensed professionals, and if someone decides they would prefer a different match, it is possible to switch therapists at any time.
