“What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create.” -Buddha
Lakisha Boykin offers a warm, non-judgmental therapeutic presence to help people facing fear, sadness, confusion, insecurity, frustration, or anger. She works with individuals who are struggling with stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, career difficulties, family conflict, grief, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue, supporting clients as they manage and navigate their thoughts and feelings.
She brings a depth of experience to her work. Over a 15-year span Lakisha has worked across community mental health settings, and for the past three years she has served as a clinician in a behavioral health walk-in clinic conducting clinical assessments and making recommendations for behavioral health services. She also has more than six years of direct experience providing therapy for people navigating life transitions, marital and family conflict, and self-esteem and mood concerns.
Lakisha is licensed in North Carolina as a clinical mental health counselor (NC LCMHC 11337), a credential that reflects state licensure to provide counseling services. She is accustomed to collaborating with psychiatrists, primary care physicians, and community agencies when appropriate.
Her therapeutic approach is compassionate, receptive, and supportive, tailored to each person’s unique style and needs. Lakisha believes clients are the experts on their own lives and positions herself as a guide to help them move toward their goals. She welcomes the opportunity to work with people who are motivated to make change, improve their lives, and pursue a greater sense of purpose.
Many people ask whether therapy conducted online can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person treatment.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can connect in whichever way feels most comfortable, including video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy life and to maintain consistent care.
Each participating therapist is a licensed professional, and clients have the option to switch therapists at any time if they feel a different fit would be more helpful.
