Kristi McClatchy offers warm, affirming therapy for women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, young adults, and mothers between the ages of 18 and 35 who are struggling with anxiety or seeking a safe space to explore their lives. She creates a welcoming environment where clients can process daily stressors and examine how earlier life experiences may be showing up in the present.
She approaches therapy from a collaborative stance, treating each person as the expert on their own life while providing attentive listening, validation, and guidance toward both short-term and long-term healing goals. In addition to working with everyday anxiety and stress management, Kristi has training in treating trauma stemming from childhood abuse and neglect and employs Internal Family Systems alongside other trauma-informed approaches to support processing and recovery.
When childhood trauma has not occurred but attachment injuries are present, Kristi offers education about attachment theory and practical strategies to begin healing the inner child. She helps clients understand their attachment style and develop skills aimed at moving toward earned secure attachment, which can ease difficulties in trusting and connecting with others.
Kristi is attentive to the ways that broader social systems shape individual experience. She works with people who wish to deconstruct their social environment to feel more empowered, using Feminist, Postmodern, and Queer-Allied approaches to explore how identity intersects with power and oppression. She also has experience supporting survivors of religious trauma and uses mindfulness-based techniques to help maintain a sense of interconnection and personal meaning in relation to a higher power.
Creative expression is an integral part of Kristi’s work; she integrates art, movement, writing, meditation, and music into sessions when helpful. Her treatment plans are personalized to fit each client’s unique needs. Kristi brings nine years of clinical experience and practices as a licensed professional counselor in Texas - LPC license number 74032.
Her training includes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), and Feminist Therapy. She has worked across a range of clinical settings including a non-profit organization, a day treatment program, and an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
Due to limited knowledge and training, Kristi does not currently address substance abuse and dependency, any and all addictions, divorce, custody disputes, self-harming behaviors within the past year, disordered eating (including anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder), Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, Borderline Personality Disorder, severe depression, anger management, domestic violence, Narcissistic Personality Disorder, ADHD, or recent suicidal thoughts within the past year. If it becomes clear that a client would be better served by a therapist with different training or experience, she will help connect them with a more appropriate fit.
For many common concerns - including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and navigating life changes - online therapy can be as effective as traditional in-person care. Research and clinical experience indicate that remote sessions work well for these types of issues.
One major benefit of online therapy is its flexibility. Clients can choose the format that best suits them, whether that means video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to fit therapy into busy schedules and into different stages of life.
All therapists involved are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch therapists if they seek a different fit. For many people, virtual therapy is a practical and effective path toward managing symptoms and working on personal goals.
