Dr. Kimberly Carroll welcomes people who are exploring therapy and looks forward to supporting them as they pursue personal goals and greater well-being.
She brings a personable, kind, accepting, and occasionally funny presence to her work, and has been helping others since the age of 21. She earned her doctorate in psychology in 2002 and has been a licensed psychologist in Arizona since 2005; her professional credential is AZ Psychologist PSY-003751. Over the course of a 20-year career, her practice has primarily focused on working with teenagers and adults.
Dr. Carroll commonly uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), an approach that highlights how thoughts shape feelings and choices. For example, when a person is unsure about staying in a relationship, she would explore how thoughts influence emotions like sadness or dissatisfaction and how those feelings contribute to actions such as withdrawing or returning belongings. She then helps clients make decisions grounded in clear reasoning and their genuine desires. CBT can produce meaningful change in a relatively short time, and the skills learned are transferable to other situations clients may face in the future.
She values an honest, collaborative therapeutic relationship and appreciates feedback from those she works with. With a client’s permission, she will consult with other professionals if progress stalls. Helping people reach their goals and experience increased satisfaction and happiness is a meaningful part of her professional life, and she aims to help others find that same sense of meaning and support.
