Kayla Ernst understands the small, harsh voice that tells a person they are not good enough, that everything is their fault, or that they must relive the hardest days of their life. She recognizes how intrusive thoughts can prompt rituals or behaviors that leave someone questioning each move, and how efforts to make those patterns stop can still leave a person feeling stuck.
Her goal as a therapist is to help clients take back control - so their inner dialogue, their past, or their fears no longer run the show. She specializes in IFS, guiding people to reconnect with and care for wounded parts in a supportive setting. Kayla uses EMDR for trauma processing to help clients reclaim their stories and strengthen resilience, and she incorporates ACT to assist clients in identifying core values and taking actions that align with a more meaningful life.
Sessions are collaborative and tailored to each person’s needs and goals, and clients often leave feeling relieved and empowered with new skills or perspectives that change how they approach challenges. She is licensed as a professional counselor in South Carolina (SC LPC 8409) and Oregon (OR LPC C9622).
Many people wonder whether online therapy truly helps. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions for most people.
A major benefit is flexibility - clients can meet with a therapist in the format that fits their life, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety makes it easier to maintain consistency and access care on a schedule that works.
Therapy provided online is delivered by licensed professionals, and if a client decides they would prefer a different therapeutic fit, it is possible to switch therapists. For many, online therapy offers an accessible, practical option to address everyday concerns and support ongoing mental health work.
