Karen Sheerin is a New York-based therapist with four decades of professional experience helping people manage stress, anxiety, addictions, grief, self-esteem concerns, and life transitions. Her practice draws on a long career that includes meaningful work at South Oaks Hospital, where she developed specialized experience in addictions counseling.
Sheerin earned her bachelor’s degree from Empire College, a New York accredited college of external study, and completed her master’s degree at Adelphi University on Long Island. She holds a New York State license as a clinical social worker and is registered to practice as an LCSW-R (registration number 075978).
She focuses on supporting clients through loss and grief, building motivation, self-esteem, and confidence, and addressing relationship and workplace challenges tied to stress and anxiety. Sheerin emphasizes that each person is the expert in their own story and works to identify and strengthen the personal resources clients already possess.
She recognizes that beginning therapy can take courage and commends those who take that first step toward change. Her approach is professional yet approachable, aimed at helping people navigate difficult moments and move forward with greater resilience.
For many common concerns — such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes — online therapy has been shown to be just as effective as traditional in-person sessions. This makes virtual care a practical option for people seeking help with everyday mental health needs.
One major benefit is flexibility. Clients can connect with licensed professionals in the format that best fits their routines and comfort level, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. That range of options makes it easier to integrate therapy into a busy life.
Each therapist available is a licensed professional, and clients are free to switch providers at any time if they want a different fit. Online therapy offers an adaptable way to pursue support while maintaining continuity of care and access to trained clinicians.
