Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Hello there!
I am a licensed independent social worker in the District of Columbia. I have 10 years of experience working with persons experiencing anticipatory grief, grief, loss and death and dying. Grief is something we learn to live with, not “get over with.” There are so many complex emotions and feelings that accompany grief and loss- whether that be a loss of a loved one, job, dream, etc. I hope to help explore some of these emotions to assist you in understanding your grief and how you can honor and remember what was lost.
I value truly listening and building rapport with my clients. My style is warm, interactive and hopefully promotes growth and self- exploration. I believe in treating everyone with respect, compassion an empathy. My approach is a mix of cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, motivational interviewing and cultural sensitivity. I will modify our conversations based on your specific goals and needs.
I recognize the strength it takes to strive towards securing a more balanced and fulfilling life. Especially, the courage you exhibited by taking the first steps towards acknowledging and embracing the desire for change and growth. I am here to support, empower and accompany you on this journey!
Look forward to working with you!

Joelle Purdy is a licensed independent clinical social worker practicing in the District of Columbia. She is credentialed to provide clinical social work services and brings four years of professional experience to her practice.
She works with people facing anticipatory grief, grief, loss, and end-of-life issues, and addresses a wide range of concerns including stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, family conflicts, intimacy-related issues, parenting challenges, self-esteem struggles, career difficulties, depression, coping with life changes, coaching needs, and compassion fatigue.
Purdy views grief as a process people learn to live with rather than an obstacle to be quickly overcome. She seeks to help clients explore the complex emotions tied to loss so they can better understand their grief and find meaningful ways to honor and remember what was lost.
Her approach is warm and interactive, grounded in active listening and rapport-building. She integrates cognitive behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, motivational interviewing, and cultural sensitivity, and tailors conversations to each person’s specific goals and needs.
Recognizing the strength required to pursue a more balanced and fulfilling life, she aims to support, empower, and accompany clients throughout their work toward change and growth. She looks forward to working with individuals seeking compassionate, practical support.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For a range of common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and navigating life changes – online therapy can be an effective option and may serve as a comparable alternative to traditional in-person sessions for many individuals.
One major advantage is flexibility. Clients can connect in the manner that fits them best – through video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – which makes it easier to incorporate therapy into a busy schedule.
All therapists are licensed professionals, and clients have the ability to switch therapists if they prefer a different fit.
