Jo Ann Farmer is a Georgia-licensed professional counselor with 19 years of experience in the behavioral health field and additional certification as an anger management specialist. She chose this career path after receiving professional counseling during a difficult time in her own life, and that personal experience informs her commitment to the caring profession.
Her counseling approach is personable and interactive, emphasizing clients' capacity for positive change when given appropriate support and guidance at pivotal moments. As a Christian, she naturally incorporates biblical principles into her work when that aligns with a client’s needs and values. She values being a listening ear and provides nurturing, empathy, and emotional guidance to those she serves.
Jo Ann has experience supporting survivors of child abuse, trauma, domestic violence, divorce, family separation, and blended family conflicts. She also works with concerns such as addictions, relationship issues, anger management, self-esteem, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue, and stress.
Her clinical work draws on a range of therapeutic modalities tailored to each client’s needs and ability to engage in treatment, including cognitive behavioral therapy, client-centered therapy, and solution-focused therapy. She has applied these approaches when treating depression, anxiety, grief, ADHD, and bipolar disorder.
Jo Ann looks forward to applying her education and nearly two decades of experience to help bring about positive change in the lives of the individuals she is privileged to serve, and she welcomes the opportunity to work with new clients.
Many people wonder whether online therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life changes, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person care for most people.
One key advantage is flexibility - clients can connect in the format that works best for them, whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This adaptability makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and to maintain continuity of care.
All participating therapists are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to switch providers if they feel a different fit would be more helpful. For many people, online therapy provides an accessible and practical way to pursue support and progress toward their goals.
