Jeffrey Ayers is a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Missouri with six years of experience in the mental health field. Before training as a counselor, he worked for seven years with the United States Postal Service and later returned to school to pursue counseling as a career.
He holds an Associate of Science degree from Brazosport College, an Associate of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Columbia College, a Master of Education degree in Counseling, a Graduate Certificate in College Student Mental Health, and an Education Specialist degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. He practices as a school psychological examiner and serves as a Kindergarten through 12th grade school counselor.
Jeffrey completed his provisional license hours at Lincoln University, where he provided pro bono counseling to community members and college students through the university counseling center. He is licensed to practice professional counseling in Missouri, which authorizes him to provide clinical counseling services.
His counseling approach is warm and receptive, with a strong emphasis on building the client-counselor relationship as a foundation for effective work. He treats each person as an individual and tailors interventions accordingly, drawing on career counseling experience and mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Jeffrey uses an integrated approach to determine what methods will best support each client, and he aims to challenge the stigma that seeking help is a sign of weakness while guiding clients toward goals they wish to achieve and surpass.
Many people wonder whether remote counseling can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or managing life transitions, online therapy has been shown to be as effective as traditional in-person sessions.
One major benefit is flexibility - clients can connect in the way that works best for them, whether by video call, phone, live chat, or in-app messaging. This variety makes it easier to fit therapy into busy schedules and ongoing routines.
All therapists offering online care are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they need a different fit. For many, virtual sessions provide an accessible and practical way to pursue meaningful therapeutic work.
