Jeanne Brown is glad you reached out and welcomes the opportunity to work together. She aims to provide clear information about her training, therapeutic approach, values, and goals for the counseling relationship so prospective clients can decide whether her style is a good fit.
She is licensed to practice in New York as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (NY LMHC, license number 008920) and in Virginia as a Licensed Professional Counselor (VA LPC, license number 0701006768). She is also a Registered Play Therapist - Supervisor and a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. Jeanne earned a Master’s degree in Human Services with a specialization in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University, and she holds certificates in the Contemporary Theory of Compulsive and Addictive Behavior and in Play Therapy.
Jeanne has 10 years of experience providing therapy services and has worked with children, adolescents, parents, adults, families, and groups across community-based and outpatient settings, as well as in administrative roles. She works with a wide range of concerns including stress, anxiety, addictions, relationship issues, family conflicts, depression, LGBT issues, trauma and abuse, parenting challenges, anger management, self-esteem, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, compassion fatigue, and ADHD.
Her practice centers on a non-directive, person-centered approach that provides a safe environment in which individuals can explore strategies for growth and healthy change. When working with children and adolescents she uses a person-centered Play Therapy approach that uses play as the primary mode of communication and healing. Jeanne believes clients often know what they need to improve their lives and she offers support, empathy, and acceptance as they discover their own solutions.
She offers messaging, live chat, and phone sessions, and typically checks messages at least two times per day, every day. Clients are welcome to message her anytime through Better Help. Jeanne looks forward to meeting new clients and supporting them through the therapeutic process.
Many people wonder whether remote counseling can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes, online therapy can be just as effective as traditional in-person care.
One major advantage is flexibility - clients can connect in the format that fits their needs, whether by video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This range of options often makes it easier to integrate therapy into a busy life.
Each therapist is a licensed professional, and clients may change therapists at any time if they feel a different match would be more helpful. For many people, the convenience and accessibility of online sessions make consistent participation more achievable and support meaningful progress on everyday concerns.
