Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
Everyone has a story: how we live within our stories affects the people we are and who we are in the process of becoming. Our stories are about the things we’ve done and the things that have been done to us. We’ve hurt people and been hurt by people. We all have parts of our stories we wish we could change, erase or do over. We’ve listened to, believed and internalized things we or other people have said about us with profound impact. I believe in listening to and working within your story to help and I would be honored if you choose to share your story with me.
I am licensed in Colorado with 5 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, trauma, abuse, & military/first responder and their family’s unique situations.
I approach the counseling relationship from a person centered theoretical orientation: that is, I believe every person has the answers they are looking for inside of them. My job is to empower my clients to find those answers and help them live their fullest life possible.
There are some who may believe a counselor has all the answers; I know I am on the same journey as the people who sit across from me. I would be honored if you allowed me to walk along side you on your way.

James Walter McClung understands that everyone carries a story, and the ways people inhabit those stories influence who they are and who they are becoming. He recognizes that stories contain both what people have done and what has been done to them, that people have hurt others and been hurt, and that there are often chapters one wishes could be changed or erased.
He pays close attention to how clients have listened to, believed, and internalized messages about themselves, and he works within those narratives to promote healing and growth. He invites individuals to share their experiences and would be honored to be trusted with their stories.
Licensed in Colorado (CO LPC LPC.0020837), James has five years of professional experience helping people manage stress and anxiety, address relationship and family conflicts, and recover from trauma and abuse. He also has experience supporting military and first responder clients and the unique situations their families face.
James practices from a person-centered orientation, believing that each person holds the answers they seek and that his role is to empower clients to find those answers and pursue their fullest life. He does not present himself as someone who has all the answers, but as a companion willing to walk alongside clients on their journey.
For many common concerns — such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or major life transitions — online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care. It can be a practical option for people seeking help for these issues.
One of the primary benefits is flexibility. Individuals can choose the mode of connection that suits them best, whether that is a video appointment, a phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging, making it easier to incorporate therapy into a busy life.
All participating clinicians are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they need a different fit. Online therapy can make access to professional support more convenient while keeping the focus on the therapeutic work.
