Holistic Jungian therapist specializing in trauma and relationships
HELLO! Feeling stuck? We live in challenging times and relief doesn’t seem fast enough these days. I’ve been there, I’ve been counseling 24+ years and I know what works and what works fast. My job as a licensed psychotherapist is to get you in-and-out as soon as possible and to ensure you learn what works by teaching you up-front, rapid, science-based coping methods and strategies that work to quickly move you towards more relaxation, self-control and/or joy as fast as possible. In fact I’ve written books about it titled “UCoping” and “UCoping: Interactive Edition” available on Amazon. The methods in UCoping are the methods I use in treatment. They CUT TO THE CHASE, without all the PSYCHOBABBLE and instead teach you how to RAPIDLY use science-based coping correctly. Then I teach how to CRYSTALIZE the methods for life in as short of an amount of sessions as possible—usually 1-5 sessions. After then we can triage for transition to long-term therapy if needed! This is how I practice in treatment. It all comes through an active faith, being a licensed therapist and through the academics of clinical psychotherapy.
I treat anxiety, depression, sexual identity distress (not sex addiction) with co-occurring drug/alcohol issues, as applicable. I also treat symptoms of anger management and psychosis (not personality disorders) and provide parenting psychoeducation. I teach clients how to turn evidence-based coping methods into habits for life! I add faith, spiritual and/or religious discussions as needed in a style that is calm, warm and compassionate. I mostly use Cognitive/Behavioral Therapy (CBT), some Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Solution-Focused Treatment (SFT) to name a few. Let’s get started working together to get you unstuck fast for life!

Howard Acosta offers practical, fast-acting psychotherapy for people who feel stuck and want relief that comes sooner rather than later. With 24 years of clinical experience, he focuses on teaching rapid, science-based coping strategies that produce measurable shifts in relaxation, self-control, and mood.
His clinical approach emphasizes clear, actionable techniques taught up front so clients can start using them immediately. Howard is the author of UCoping and UCoping: Interactive Edition, both available on Amazon, and the methods described in those books are the same tools he applies in session. He aims to help clients consolidate new skills into lasting habits in a short course of care – often within one to five sessions – and then triages for transition to longer-term therapy if that is needed.
Howard blends an active faith with professional training and the academic foundations of clinical psychotherapy. He is a licensed clinical social worker in California (CA LCSW 74837), a credential that reflects advanced training and authorization to provide psychotherapy in the state.
He treats a range of concerns including stress, anxiety, addictions, LGBT-related issues, parenting difficulties, anger management, grief, self-esteem struggles, depression, and coping with life changes. He also works with sexual identity distress – not sex addiction – and will address co-occurring drug or alcohol issues when applicable. Howard treats symptoms related to anger management and psychosis but does not treat personality disorders, and he offers parenting psychoeducation as part of care. His work is grounded primarily in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with elements of Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Treatment, delivered in a calm, warm, and compassionate style that can include faith, spiritual, or religious discussion when appropriate.
Howard’s goal is to get people unstuck quickly and to equip them with skills they can use for life.
For many common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, or navigating life transitions – remote therapy has been found to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care. It can be an effective option for people seeking accessible, evidence-informed support.
One of the main benefits is flexibility. Individuals can meet with a therapist in the format that best fits their schedule and comfort level – whether by video call, phone session, live chat, or in-app messaging. This range of options makes it easier to integrate therapy into busy lives and to maintain consistency over time.
Sessions are provided by licensed professionals, and it is possible to change therapists if someone would prefer a different fit. For many people, online therapy offers a practical, flexible way to address everyday mental health concerns and to build coping skills that support long-term well-being.
