Gwendolyn Henry, who often goes by Gwen, is a licensed therapist and life coach practicing in Michigan with 27 years of clinical experience. She holds a Michigan Master of Social Work license (MI LMSW 6801067541), which reflects her long-standing commitment to professional practice and client care.
Throughout her career she has supported survivors of sexual abuse and adults coping with depression, anxiety, and varied forms of grief. For the past 10 years she has worked specifically with Veterans who experienced trauma related to military service.
Her therapeutic approach centers on active listening, thoughtful sensitivity to each person’s concerns and history, and steady encouragement delivered without judgment. Gwen emphasizes building a trusting relationship as the foundation for healing, learning, and growth. She collaborates with clients to develop a treatment plan and revisits it over time to ensure it remains aligned with each person’s goals and progress.
Gwen’s clinical toolbox includes cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), Internal Family Systems, grief therapy, techniques for anxiety that incorporate breath work, interventions for depressive disorders, guided meditation, and art therapy. She welcomes the opportunity to work with people who are ready to pursue a more self-directed and satisfying life, and regards that work as an honor.
Many people wonder whether remote therapy can truly help. For a range of common concerns – such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, or adjusting to life changes – online therapy has been shown to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person care for most typical issues.
A major benefit is flexibility. People can connect with their therapist in the format that fits their life best – video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging – making it easier to attend sessions around work, family, and other commitments.
Therapists who provide online care are licensed professionals, and clients have the option to change therapists if they want a different match. This approach can make therapy more accessible and adaptable while maintaining the same core elements of therapeutic work.
