Dr. Gary Ward is a native Texan, married and the father of four adult children and ten grandchildren. He completed a Master of Professional Counseling in 2008 and later earned a Doctor of Ministry degree in Pastoral Counseling.
He is licensed in Texas as a marriage and family therapist, a professional counselor, and a chemical dependency counselor. His career includes ten years in ministry working with families and individuals and fifteen years in public education supporting high school students with learning difficulties and their families.
Dr. Ward believes that while people live within a wide network of relationships, each person also has individual needs. He approaches counseling with compassion and respect, integrating a Christian perspective alongside a variety of therapeutic methods tailored to each person’s circumstances.
He helps clients identify strengths and capabilities and collaborates with them to pursue the outcomes they seek. Viewing growth as an ongoing process, he maintains that positive change is possible. Dr. Ward looks forward to hearing a person’s story and coming alongside them to offer support and guidance.
Many people ask whether remote therapy can truly help. For common concerns such as stress, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, or adapting to life changes, online therapy has been found to be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person treatment.
One major benefit is convenience - people can connect in the way that works best for them, whether by video appointments, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility makes it easier to fit therapy into a busy schedule and maintain consistency over time.
Therapists who provide online care are licensed professionals, and clients may switch providers if they feel a different fit would be helpful. For many individuals, remote therapy offers an accessible and effective route to getting support.
