Gabriel “Gabe” Seldess guides people toward better understanding and acceptance of themselves and their lives. He works with clients to identify obstacles to wellbeing and to create a practical road map toward improved mental and relational health.
Gabe begins by clarifying the issues a person is facing and the current life circumstances that shape those concerns, then aligns treatment with each individual’s goals for the future. He blends Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with principles from family counseling to examine how experiences form beliefs, expectations, and preferences, and to challenge patterns that are limiting or no longer useful.
His work also incorporates behavioral techniques, mindfulness practices, and motivational interviewing to support mood regulation, decision making, and problem solving. Gabe helps clients build communication skills that strengthen self-advocacy and improve relationships.
He is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in Illinois and brings 20 years of clinical experience to his work. Gabe graduated from the Family Institute at Northwestern and lives and works in Chicago. He has particular experience supporting people with stress, anxiety, relationship and family conflicts, parenting concerns, career difficulties, addictions, LGBT issues, grief, intimacy-related challenges, anger management, self-esteem, depression, coping with life changes, and coaching.
